Fuller's ESB is similar in style to its London Pride and somewhat so in its flavor profile. It is darker in color, however, and has a somewhat hoppy and flowery aroma. ESB is a stronger, more authoritative beer than London Pride and in fact began its existence designated as a winter ale. This beer was first brewed in 1971 and its recipe is a closely guarded secret, although it is known that it is brewed from Pale Ale and Crystal malts, and from Target, Challenger, Northdown and Goldings hops.
