Chipotle Ale is based on Rogue's Oregon Golden Ale, but delicately spiced with smoked chipotle Chile peppers. It as formerly named Mexicali Rogue. Chipotle Ale is created from Northwest Harrington, Klages, and Maier Munich Malts; Willamette and Cascade hops; and Smoked Jalapeno (Chipotle) Peppers. This is Philadelphia Inquirer food and drink critic Craig LaBan's assessment: "Cinco de Mayo is a prime time to celebrate the splendor of the Chile pepper, and few things highlight its versatility as well as this unusual new Chipotle Ale from Oregon's Rogue Ales. With only a mild spice, it's not exactly hot sauce with fizz. Instead, the smoked chipotle jalapenos lend the amber ale a dusky depth that tastes more like a smoky German rauchbier with a Spanish accent."
